Trade Area

Definition: The geographic zone from which a restaurant draws the majority of its customers.

Trade area analysis defines who lives, works, and visits within a reasonable travel time of your site—often 5, 10, or 15 minutes by car or a tight radius for urban walkable locations. Demographics, income, daytime population, and competitive density shape concept fit.

Urban sites may draw from multiple micro-neighborhoods; suburban sites often depend on parking and arterial visibility. Delivery extends the trade area but adds fee and packaging economics.

Match cuisine and price point to trade area demand. Underserved cuisine type alone does not prove demand if demographics do not align.
