Type II Hood
Definition: Condensate hood for steam, heat, and odor without grease capture requirements.
Type II hoods vent steam from combi ovens, dish machines, and some steamers where grease is not the primary effluent. They still require proper exhaust and makeup air but avoid grease duct cleaning schedules of Type I systems.
Misclassifying equipment under the wrong hood type fails inspection. Coordinate mechanical engineers early in design.
Some jurisdictions treat hybrid equipment differently; submit cut sheets with permit packages.
